Our Love Story

Tabita

Tabita's Story

I grew up in Nepal, where dating at a young age is not very common. People often judge, and walking with a man can bring a lot of attention. Because of that, I never imagined that my love story would begin far away from home.

In August 2023, I received my visa to come to the United States to pursue my master's degree. I didn't know that God had already planned something better for me.

During Christmas, while traveling to Disneyland with my brother and his family, we were stuck in traffic and that's when Eric and I first connected online. We talked for an entire month before meeting in person. From the beginning, Eric was easy to talk to, kind, and patient. Even before meeting, we started doing devotionals together and praying, and we could see God answering our prayers.

When we finally met for our first dinner date, everything felt natural. After dinner, as we walked back to the car on a cold night, Eric asked me to be his girlfriend. I didn't hesitate for long before saying yes.

Since then, we have been in a long-distance relationship, but we have never missed a day without talking. No matter the distance, we FaceTime every day. God has truly blessed our journey together, and we are so grateful.

We are excited for the future and cannot wait to start our life together, trusting God every step of the way.

Eric's Story

Growing up, I was a typical nerd. I loved video games, fantasy novels, and science fiction. Girls terrified me. Especially talking to one that I liked. I went on a couple dates here and there, but never felt the spark that I imagined should be there. I was praying every night for God to lead me to the girl I would marry. Funny how the spark I was looking for was on the other side of the planet.

Tabita and I matched on a Christian dating app on December 26th 2024. We hit it off instantly over our love for movies and our similar technical backgrounds (she was studying Data Analytics and had QA positions at tech companies in Nepal). It felt effortless to talk with her and our messages got longer and longer (to the point I was getting hand cramps hahaha). I eventually asked for her number and we had our first FaceTime on January 1st. I was super nervous that first interaction, but I shouldn't have worried. It was just as easy to talk to her in real time as it was through text. We have such a similar sense of humor and we were laughing constantly! We FaceTimed for over 4 hours that first night!

After a couple weeks of talking and getting to know each other, we decided to start a devotional together, and soon after I knew I had to go meet her in person. So I booked a flight to go see her, however God had other plans. I ended up getting Covid a week before the trip and we had to delay the trip. We eventually met in person for the first time, January 31st, 2025. I knew immediately that she was meant for me. After the initial awkwardness of seeing each other for the first time after talking for a month, everything just felt right to me. We had dinner, and afterwards, as we were heading back to the car, I asked her to be my girlfriend. I was so relieved that she said yes hahaha.

We had a crazy year with both of us traveling back and forth between Charleston and DC (with smaller trips to Florida and Michigan to see some of my extended family). I proposed to her with help from her family on October 16th, 2025. I can't believe how our story has unfolded so far and I am so excited for the future and can't wait to see how God blesses this next chapter of our lives.
